Dr. Ben Hamel graduated magna cum laude from Marquette University before earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his Pediatrics residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hamel believes effective care starts with understanding what matters most to each patient and family. He takes the time to learn about their concerns, experiences, and comfort level before determining appropriate testing or interventions. His primary clinical interests include food allergies and asthma. 

For Dr. Hamel, practicing allergy and immunology is also a personal journey. He was a patient at St. Paul Allergy as a child and grew up seeing an allergist. Returning to St. Paul to practice medicine—and joining the clinic where he was once a patient—feels like coming full circle.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hamel enjoys spending time with his partner, family and friends, traveling, and discovering new local restaurants.
